Even Jesse Jackson comes to Almedalen

Almedalen week is in full bloom on Gotland right now, started Sunday. This year, there were about 12,000 visitors and 1456 seminars, debates and other scheduled activities. What do all these people do? They share ideas, debate, and learn a lot about politics, organisations, and companies.

Almedalen Week is becoming a model for political meetings because of its open, friendly, and warm spirit. They are already copying it in Denmark, and this year, representatives from South Korea are here to study how it’s done. Another guest who came to see what Almedalen week is about was Jesse Jackson.

This picture was taken just before the TV debate in SVT Debatt. Jesse Jackson was very relaxed and made jokes with the audience. He said about Almedalen Week that ”this is what democracy should be like: people with different opinions meeting and having civilised discussions”.

I live and work on Gotland, Sweden’s biggest island, right in the middle of the Baltic Sea. I’m interested in many things and somehow I happened to start four blogs with different content.

Asa In the Middle of the World is in English and is also about life on this island, but the content has changed to be more about Apple. I’m very interested in Apple and since 1989 I’m a Happy Apple User.
