Calm Christmas in Kappelshamn

When we had picked up Alice by the ferry at Wednesday and drew home, there were some snow on the ground and beautiful ”cold fog” over the fields.

The road was not nice to drive on… when the temperature is around 0°C it’s very slippery.

This is not exactly a Christmas thing, but when we started to tidy up the house for Christmas I also started to paint this bowl. To start with this bowl was beautifully green with ”golden frost” but then I was stupid enough to put it in the dishwasher and almost all of the paint went off… Since then it has been an ugly bowl, but NOW I painted it. I used the colors I had available, which means ”the acrylic colors that had not dried in their tubes”.

Lotti and Totti sit her philosophizing in the almost empty window in the kitchen. It’s the day before Christmas Eve and all the bric-a-bracs are so excited about what will happen. Which shelter will they stand on? Which friends will they get to know?

And this is the decorated window! Lotti and Totti got company by two goats made of straw and two woolen elfs/tomtar. I got the two ”tomtar” from my childhood home. I think that Lotti and Totti seemed to like the company anyway!

Here are the ”clay tomtar”, which I also have got from my childhood home.

Our cat Silver thinks the best thing about Christmas is that we are so kind to bring a tree inside the house – just for him. Though, in this picture he’s a bit impatient because he has to wait so long for the tree to get in place.

Then we did bring in the tree and the lightening got on place, but, our tradition is to put on the rest of the decorations on Christmas Eve, so the tree is still not ready. But Silver thinks it’s okay.

Decorated tree, but then all the Christmas gifts take up all the space under the tree. That is NOT what Silver likes. Hey??? What’s this? I’m supposed to lie here!

Doris made a good effort to get rid of the the Christmas gift. She climbed around and pulled the strings and scratched the paper, but didn’t really manage to open them…

But, fortunately Santa came this year too and all the gifts disappeared from under the tree and Silver could take back the best sleeping place of them all: on a soft carpet, under a cozy decorated tree with nice lights.

Then we had Christmas dinner. And Yes, we was filled this year too and Yes we couldn’t eat all the food.

Today we have been to Visby. Roine took a walk and Alice and I watched Happy Feet 2. It was really good and Yes, I got tears in my eyes when the little penguin started to sing opera about his brave daddy.

These two elves are named Palle and Päntti and they managed to sneak with us back home to our kitchen? So, what can I do about that?

Altogether a nice and calm Christmas!

(I used my iPhone 4S for all the pics)
