Even Jesse Jackson comes to Almedalen

Almedalen week is in full bloom on Gotland right now, started Sunday. This year with about 12 000 visitors and 1456 seminars, debates and other scheduled activities. What do all this people do? They share ideas, debate and learn a lot about politics, organizations and companies.

Almedalen week is starting to become a model for political meetings because of the open, friendly and warm spirit. They are already copying it in Denmark and this year representatives from South Korea is here to study how it’s done. Another guest that came to see what Almedalen week is about was Jesse Jackson.

This picture is taken just before the tv-debate in SVT Debatt. Jesse Jackson was very relaxed and made jokes with the audience. He said about Almedalen Week that ”this is what democracy should be like: people with different opinions meeting and having civilized discussions”.

Lunch at Hallshuk

Today we had lunch at Hallshuk to enjoy the magnificent view over Kappelshamns’ Bay.

My sister Dorty walked around with her camera as usual.

This is our lunch-table. Including the view!

I tried to take a picture of a an Apollo Butterfly. One may say that it’s a lot easier to take a picture of a thistle.

Dorty and I walked down to the small fishing village.

This was the end of a visit from Dorty and Eddy, a week filled with tours, midsummer and my second cousins’ birthday party.

I have played with the picture in the app Grungematic.

Conan O’Brien’s editors mock Final Cut Pro X…

Sorry Apple, but this was funny.

The latest version of Final Cut Pro X wasn’t exactly the version that the professional editors had waited for. The professionals aren’t very happy. Like Conan’s editors…

A tour to the east of Gotland

Camera: Canon SX1 IS

Thursday we went for a tour to the east of Gotland with my sister and her husband. We headed for lunch at the smokehouse in Katthammarsvik. I ordered a delicious warm-smoked lax with caviar sauce. When we took a walk out on this quay it was a bit odd that the wind blew harder in the beginning, than when we were all the way out on it.

This is Eddy who walked to the horizon and back.

Vi continued to Grogarns huvud/”Grogarn’s Head”. It’s the high cliff mountain between Katthammarsvik and Herrvik.

There were some faded Small Pasque Flowers that swayed in the wind.

I can’t remember the correct word for these? They use them with the fishnets and they are bright and red, as you can see…

Next stop was Ljugarn and the beach café. We continued to Folhammar. This HDR-picture is a test with my new Aperture app Hydra. It show the beach forest right before Folhammar north of Ljugarn.

I visited Folhammar a lot of times when I was a kid. I climbed on the rauks and we also went here in the evening, ran around in the labyrinths and grilled hot dogs. It was very cosy. Now when I walk around the rauks I can feel that cosiness again. When I came back home and watched this picture I saw the climbing boy. It could have been me climbing like that when I was a kid.

To stay late in the evening among the rauks was especially exciting when I was a kid. I think I have to plan more evening-picnics to the rauks!

We turned back home and stopped in Slite. We bought some thai-food and brought to a table in Badhusparken/the Bathhouse park. It was very windy! We had to be very creative to make the food, the small boxes and everything stay put on the table. But it was really nice!
